Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Florida

Of all the seasonal events that Universal Orlando has to offer, Mardi Gras holds a special place in my heart. My first visit to Universal Orlando was during Mardi Gras, so it will always evoke that exhilarating first-visit feeling, filled with excitement and wonder. The vibrant colors, the seasonal music and sounds, and the smells of food that fill the air create an enchanting atmosphere that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of this festive occasion. 

Parade

No Mardi Gras experience is complete without a parade and this one lights up the streets of Universal Studios Florida. As you find a spot along the parade route for the daily parade, the anticipation builds with each passing moment. The floats, adorned with dazzling decorations, come alive with vibrant colors, elaborate designs, and characters that match the floats theme. Performers in extravagant costumes lead the floats, adding to the electric atmosphere. An insanely fun thing to fully experience the event is to get a spot to ride on one of the floats by using the Universal Orlando app at certain times in the afternoon prior to the parade. The tune of upbeat music fills the air, attracting everyone's attention as beads are tossed into the crowd, turning spectators into celebrants. Each float tells a unique story, capturing the essence of the festival, and allows the guests to immerse themselves in the festivities like never before. 

Food

Mardi Gras-inspired foods are abundant throughout Universal Studios Florida, with dishes inspired by international favorites that add to the celebration. As you stroll through the park, each food stand presents an array of international dishes that are sure to please. From classic Cajun dishes to flavorful cuisine with Italian influence or dishes from India, the options are endless. The beignets are a must for me but be sure to make your way around the park and see all the options first because it’s an immense menu. Universal has done a fantastic job of capturing the essence of Mardi Gras through its culinary offerings, allowing guests to explore dishes that tell a story of culture and tradition. 

Concerts

Adding to the excitement are the live concerts, featuring renowned artists and bands that bring an extra layer of enjoyment to the Mardi Gras festivities. These take place on select weekend nights so be sure to check the schedule to see who is performing on what nights. The concerts are free to park guests who have valid tickets for that day. Be sure to arrive early to be sure to get a place. Whether you’re in the front row soaking up every moment or further back enjoying the ambiance, these concerts create lasting memories that enhance the overall experience of Mardi Gras.

Each year, I look forward to reliving old memories, making new ones, and celebrating the joy that Mardi Gras brings to everyone who steps through the gates.
